Curious Minds Flourish Here

At Sherborne Prep, we believe in brilliant basics wrapped in boundless curiosity.   We have a proud record of academic success – with scholarships, glowing inspection results, and strong destinations to our name. But more than that, we believe children learn best when they are excited, engaged, and given space to explore.

Our curriculum is ambitious, imaginative, and utterly child-centred. From phonics to philosophy, number bonds to Newton, we teach with purpose and personality.

Whether it is Year 3 solving mysteries in maths or Year 7 debating ethics in English, our lessons crackle with thought and energy. We do not just teach children what to think – we help them learn how to think, and love doing it.

Learning Support

At Sherborne Prep, we believe every child should feel supported, understood and able to thrive. Our experienced Learning Support team works closely with pupils from the earliest stages, listening carefully to children, parents, teachers and external professionals to ensure the right support is in place and progress is made with confidence.

“Leaders implement a broad curriculum that reflects high standards for the pupils' learning.”
ISI 2026
There is no such thing as one-size-fits-all here. Every child is unique – and so is the way they learn.

That is why our teaching is agile, inclusive, and constantly evolving to meet each pupil’s needs.

Small class sizes, attentive teaching and a Learning Support team that works hand in hand with teachers and families ensure that every child - whatever their starting point - is supported, stretched and celebrated.

The six Sherborne Virtues - curiosity, service, resilience, empathy, integrity and respect - run through everything we do, in the classroom and beyond it.

Whether your child dreams of solving climate change, performing Shakespeare, or opening a bakery, we are here to give them the tools to begin —

We blend high expectations with high support – smaller class sizes, attentive teaching, and a Learning Support team that works hand in hand with teachers and families. For children with additional needs, we create tailored learning plans that are sensitive, stretching, and empowering.
