Sherborne Prep is proud to offer a bespoke two year programme for pupils in Years 7 and 8. Our model is recognised and praised by senior schools, as it prepares pupils with the skills, character, and confidence they need to flourish at senior school and beyond.

The Sherborne Prep Diploma is a forward thinking programme, allowing our children to take genuine responsibility and leadership in their learning, whilst still enjoying the breadth of prep school life. This develops confidence and independence within our supportive community. The Sherborne Prep Diploma ensures every child leaves us ready for their next step, grounded in values, equipped with life skills, and inspired with a lifelong love of learning.

To complement their time in senior prep, our children have flexibility with boarding options, ensuring no opportunities are ever missed. Children can join us as day pupils and can opt for flexi boarding, weekly boarding, or full boarding during their time with us.

Our children benefit from regular access to excellent facilities at Sherborne Boys and Sherborne Girls, specialist coaching in all disciplines, and opportunities to interact with mentors from the senior schools.

Our Years 7 and 8 programme culminates in the Sherborne Project Qualification (SPQ), an extended independent research project that gives pupils genuine ownership of their learning and the chance to explore a subject of personal interest. This encourages pupils to think deeply and question widely, and offers valuable preparation for the demands of senior school and beyond.

Explore the Years 7 and 8 Diploma

The Sherborne Prep Diploma brings together academic rigour, genuine character development, and a spirit of discovery across Years 7 and 8. It is a holistic framework, not a syllabus, designed to develop young people who think independently, lead with purpose, and collaborate with confidence.

How to apply

We accept enquiries and registrations throughout the year for all entry points, with places offered subject to availability in the relevant year group.

We are a non selective school, but we always recommend a visit and, wherever possible, children attend a taster day with us. Offers are made following a successful taster day and a review of the prospective child’s most recent school report. Additional assessments may be requested by the Head if required.
